What is the 90’s style?
The 90s were undoubtedly the golden age for fashion , between supermodels and revolutionary style , grunge , carefree , rebellious , but healthy .
Certain trends are immortal, they mark eras and influence entire generations. The 90s fashion can undoubtedly be considered the queen of these timeless trends and today, almost 30 years later, the Nineties are regaining their splendor, imposing their timeless style in fashion, as well as in music.
The return of the 90s is a dive into the past that especially fascinates those who have not experienced this cultural phenomenon firsthand and relives it through its testimonies, thus becoming, today, a true reference in trend of the youngest, that they never lived that period, but also for women, who look at that period with pleasant nostalgia, a period of youth and, often, of revolution.
A fashion, in fact, which is both culture and nostalgia.
It is therefore difficult to define in a few words the return of the 90s in fashion. Just as today we are inundated with different trends and many influences, so that decade was in fact characterized by the wide aesthetic variety of clothing. This variety was the direct consequence of a growing accessibility to cinema, music and characters, typical of those years. The widespread diffusion of videotapes – VHS – has brought Hollywood into the homes of teenagers, who at the same time were absorbed by the spread of TV series, with the undisputed primacy of Dawson’s Creek and Beverly Hills 90210, programs that have defined the features of a casual fashion with jeans and a white t-shirt. The parallel advent, in the music, from Nirvana And Spice Girls it contrasts the grunge lifestyle and the attitude rock to the glamor casual of the pop, bringing together torn knitwear as much as the sequin mini dress, while theimaginary and hip hop style represents the starting point from which it originates street style, which will characterize, always, even if sometimes only in the background, all the trends of the following years.
We can therefore admit that in this decade everything has gone out of fashion: the nineties have been characterized by a strong fusion of different styles – a real melting pot of styles -, with the use of iconic garments borrowed from the past, and they symbolized aanti-fashion casual with the use of simpler basic fabrics which, however, have been combined with many other materials and much more particular fabrics, as well as with various colors, innumerable designs and variegated accessories.
The result was an incredible liveliness of every clothing proposal that characterized that decade and, in part, those to follow.
With the 90s, women’s trends were revolutionary: the combination of informal and unkempt style was experienced. A real mix of different looks!
